BEAUTY: HOOKER AND YOUNG

Snapseed

Blonder and a tiny bit shorter, all thanks to Hooker & Young!

Hello, hello! The day of your hair appointment is always exciting, although I must admit, I was more anxious than excited as I walked into the salon. Today marks the first time I have ever decided to have my hair dyed. When I was younger, I was naturally bright blonde, but as the years passed, my hair gradually became duller and before I knew it, I was basically brown haired.

I think that lots of people look gorgeous with brown hair, but the colour just wasn’t for me, I mean, come on, I had lived my life being bright blonde for as long as I could remember!

I sat down in the chair, and had so many thoughts running through my mind, “What if it doesn’t go to plan?”, “Oh my gosh, what if I look awful”, “I guess I could always buy a wig to wear until the dye fades?”, “Why am I here?”, “Is it too late to change my mind?”, and those are just a few of the thoughts that crossed my mind!

Instead of getting a full head colour, which was my original plan, I decided to get highlights. I can’t even begin to describe just how nervous I was as strands of my hair began to be covered in pre-lightener.

Fast forward three hours, and I’m back in the chair, my hair about to be blow-dryed and inches of my hair on the floor (the bottom of my hair was in need of a trim, talk about split ends!). “Lucy, whatever it looks like, it’ll all be okay” I told myself, multiple times in fact.

As I looked at myself in the mirror, I couldn’t help but think back to the days when I was bright blonde, and I loved it! I was no longer brown, instead I was blonde and bouncy. The dead ends were no more and I actually really liked the shorter hairstyle!

Success!

(For anyone wondering, my hair salon is Hooker & Young).
